Cut

Cut concerns how a diamond’s proportions and facets interact with light. Shape describes its outline. A round brilliant cut grade does not describe every fancy shape in the same way.

Color and clarity

Color describes body color; clarity describes inclusions and surface characteristics. Compare individual reports and images rather than relying on a grade alone.

Carat

Carat measures weight. Two stones of the same weight can have different dimensions. For jewelry, check whether a listed weight refers to the center stone or all stones together.

Lab-grown diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical, physical and optical properties as natural diamonds, with a different origin. Read the origin disclosure for the item you select.

Grading reports

Report formats and grading terminology vary by laboratory. Open the report where it is supplied and verify its identification and measurements with our team.
